Chi si ricorda di questo mostro, creato nel 1994 dalla Renault?
Citando direttamente dal sito Williams (www.williamsdb.com) : "Questa è una Espace con una differenza. Non è un auto che usereste per andare a prendere i vostri figli a scuola, anche se certamente potreste farlo molto più velocemente!".

L'auto fu il risultato di una partnership unica tra Renault, Williams Grand Prix Engineering e Matra Automobile, che costruiva allora l'Espace per Renault.
Si trattava a tutti gli effetti di una F1 a ruote coperte, con carrozzeria Espace. L'"esperimento" era equippaggiato con un 3,5 litri V10 Renault RS5b da 800CV, con prestazioni da F1: velocità di oltre 300 kim/h e un'accelerazione da 0 a 100 in 2,896 secondi. Cambio semiautomatico, con comando al volante, sempre di derivazione F1.
Sotto la pelle da monovolume (carrozzeria in materiali plastici, originariamente prevista per 4 persone, poi limitata al solo pilota), il telaio della Williams F1 1993 (FW14), senza le sospensioni intelligenti (con cui Mansell aveva stravinto il mondiale nel 1992).
Eric Bernard (ex pilota Lrrousse e Ligier) incaricato di sviluppare l'Espace F1, confidò che il mostro curvava meglio, in termini di grip, su due ruote!
